Last night I attended the 09’ Rose a la mode- fashion show presented by NY fashion connect. There were a few familiar faces in attendance such as Q from day 26, music coach Ankhra, Rabbit from VH1s Real chance of love reality show… However the night was all about the talented 14 up and coming designers that were show casing there Spring lines which was an array of visual creativity. There were the denim dresses and men skirts of fashion backwards. A line of sexy corsets by Sara Romoli, who opted to use soda cans as a hair accessories for the models(very unique).During the show I noticed there were tons of fun colorful satin dresses , tops, and skirts adorned with ruffles and pleats for women ,which is great for the spring.
Some of my favorite garments of the night were; 1.) A silver multi ruffle satin tube dress by Sapphire Cordial. Her line included dazzling feminine pieces, with subtle colors. 2.) A white satin skirt by Gwen Beloti. The skirt had an eye popping embellished floral piece. 3.) And a cool garment by fashion backwards which was a belted denim dress/outer piece with an overly high neck.
One designer that stood out to me was Sylvio Kovacic his clothing had wonderful structure. The dresses were stunning. The line included a crimson red, backless, floor length gown with a train, a satin, soft hue ombre, full length gown and the show stopper was his last look which was a black beaded fitted skirt with a white large ruffled piece that went around the neck just to cover the breast of the model it was fierce.
Over all it was a visually pleasing and eventful show with talented designers. Some of the lines can be seen at www.nyfashionconnect.com
