I don't think I know many young, African American, women who haven't read the novel 'Push' By Sapphire. A heart wrenching Novel written towards the end of the 90's has finally been contrived into a compelling, heart warming and at times even disgustingly sad movie. The book, which was about a 16 year old, illiterate, black girl, living in Harlem and her struggles. She was being physically abused by her mother and sexually abused by her dad, whom impregnated her twice. She takes us on a journey and gives us a peek into her world, an unforgettable look into the life of someone whose struggles are much more different from our own.

The movie is starring Mariah Carey, Mo'Nique, First Time Actress Gabourey Sidibe playing Precious, and Sherri Shepherd.
